Good Golly Miss Molly Rest In Peace

Update: Molly passed away from colic overnight. She was loved and I did everything I could to help her. Please help donate to her burial fees. Venmo or PayPal at authorlmgose@gmail.com or @lapetitewolfe. Thank you.

Horses are amazingly strong and stoic creatures. They allow human beings to control them even though they are at least 5 times bigger than us (at least), because they know when they get ill, we will help them.

Like Molly, my twenty-something rescue. She is the sweetest, chillest horse, especially out of my two. Molly was found by the horse rescue wrapped in barbed wire and starving about three or four years ago. She spent over a year at the rescue being rehabilitated. During that time four families came to see her and left without her, feeling she would be too much work. They're not wrong, Molly's special diet requires a lot of money and work to provide her proper care.

Unfortunately no matter how much you try to give them the absolute best care you can, a horse can still get sick. Like Molly. She has colic, which in human babies is really no big deal (uncomfortable and sleep deprived sure, but not deadly). In horses, colic is deadly. Colic is the internal blockage of food or gas and as horses cannot squat to help force out anything, it is up to her loving human to help.

Thus two emergency vet calls in two days costing nearly a thousand dollars alone. (The treatment includes sedation, pain medication, sticking an arm up the butt to scoop out poop and feel around, tubing her and filling her with food and liquid to keep her alive). This doesn't include the extra medications I have to pick up today to ensure she has everything she needs for this weekend. Tomorrow we are having a cold snap and I'm very worried about her survivability. So today will be spent prepping for tomorrow. I have to pull out her winter blanket for the first time and put it on her tonight to protect her from tomorrow. Unfortunately colic lasts for days, up to two weeks.

I am asking for help, because I am not too proud to know when I need it, especially for one of my animals. I may need to call the vet again over the weekend or on Monday. Regardless this will cost me at least $350 to $550 depending on the medications they need to give her. If you would like to do anything to help Miss Molly, please! I have PayPal and Venmo linked to authorlmgose@gmail.com or @lapetitewolfe (my twitter handle). Every little cent helps and will go to Molly's care completely.

Thank you to the three people who have donated so far. It means the world to me.

If you can't donate but still want to help, please go to Twitter and promote my pinned tweet. Thank you!

I will update this when Molly is out of danger. Thank you for your time and compassion.

Much love,
Leia Marie
