Back to School

School is back in session full-time for the kiddos. From preschool to high school, I have one kid in every level.

My 4yo is in his second year of specialized preschool to help him become verbal. My 7yo is in second grade, and she loves it already. The 14yo is in eighth grade, and I think it's good that his 15yo sister is in ninth because they are finally separated. She relies on him too much, and she also has a tendency to try to parent him. It's annoying for us both.

Nonetheless, school is going well after the first week (start of the second). Oldest is in competitive cheer this year so that will take up a good portion of her time. 14yo is in cross country and D&D club again. 7yo and 4yo will both be in soccer this fall. It's all very exciting for them and exhausting for me.

As you might've guessed, I didn't get the volleyball coach position which is fair since I know absolutely nothing about volleyball. I am, however, volunteering with Parks and Rec to coach grades 1-3 soccer. Soccer I am familiar with as a player, spectator and coach, so I am looking forward to having something new to add to the good ol' resume. 

I should also be interviewing to be a substitute teacher at the school in a week or two. It will allow me to work within school hours so I can be there for the kids, and hopefully it will be low stress enough to continue writing my series without interruption (other than my depression that stole a year of my creative life) along with randomly picking up gigs for graphic design work here and there. 

A lot has happened in the last few months, but one thing I should note is that all the things I salvaged from New York arrived in Colorado at long last. I am now in the process of getting rid of the house as quickly as I am able, but that isn't so easy. I have a junk company removing the rest of the garbage from the house, then I will list it. Hopefully it sells quickly.

Other than that, I am back in therapy to deal with the excessive stress levels, which has helped a lot. I was diagnosed with ADHD a few months ago, and now they have me on meds so focusing is less of a struggle. I am nearly done editing Gravesend, and I really can't wait to begin Contend, the fifth book in my Children of Lilith Series.

PS. I updated my entire website today, and honestly that's the only reason I updated my blog. This is really hard, guys.
